Worthing Portrait Location Scout - The Waterways
During lockdown in 2020, it was a great time to have a little explore the local area. While on local walks, I have found several stunning locations, perfect for family/couple photography. All of the small locations are within 2miles of each other, all between Goring and Worthing.
The first location I have fallen in love with, is The Waterways in Worthing. This locations is absolute heaven for family portraits, but it’s pretty good for couples also. The Waterways feature so many options to photograph within. If you are not sure where I am talking about, it’s on the Goring end of the Worthing Promenade, featuring the playground, and often has a doughnut and coffee stand next to it! If that isn’t incentive for kids to behave, I don’t know what is.
Don’t worry, the Playground is not the entire area. This area has giant rocks around perfect to climb and sit upon, a lovely little garden area, and to top it off, the most gorgeous wooden bridge and steps down onto the beach! I’ve always loved to take advantage of a fantastic bridge, no matter where I am, in the UK, Greece or Croatia, they just make for a slightly unique setting that allows for so many options.
This is my ultimate area to photograph, especially with little kids, there are just so many places to explore within literal seconds of each other. Kids can have the best time on the swings or climbing over the rocks to stand behind you in a group shot, it makes life so much easier for those candid moments of the family together. If you catch the beach at the right time, a stroll on the waters edge is fantastic when you can avoid the groins (also a favourite for kids and adults alike to walk along). No matter, the time of day, this area is a fantastic space to shoot in and have a bit of fun. With some greenery and florals in the little garden, the options are endless for personal portraits and play hide and seek.
No matter the weather, the location can be full of drama, or be relaxed and oh so summery throughout the year!
